The 80’s are back and according to Ontario Design Trade Sourcebook 2010.  Geometric prints in bold patterns are on trend for 2011.  We are going to see more of such patterns as herringbone, ikats, and bargello.  See samples below.

I must say I am very excited that colour is back in style.  After a decade of beige on beige it is refreshing to see some colour coming back into homes.  The trend is very saturated colour and graphic in feel.  Colour is such an easy and inexpensive way to brighten and enhance the mood of any room.   A neutral room can easily get a face lift with some colourful toss cushions and new drapery treatment.

Matchy - matchy combinations are going to become a thing of the past and we are going to see more interesting pairings.   This will include pairing dark wood accessories with a lighter counterpart creating a not so polished look. 

The trend in drapery is to now have the panels clearing the floor by a ¼” to ½”  rather than the break bottom trend of the past few years.
